Sep 29,  · Thankfully, On V for Vaselines - their third album proper - there is no sign of their lyrical wit waning, or any obvious indications of a shift in sound, but their spark has dimmed somewhat since ’s unexpected triumphant return Sex With An X, which is partly due to the slightly less shambolic guitar playing, and a general sense of. With their second album in five years, Kurt Cobain’s one-time “favourite songwriters in the whole world” can now claim to actually be more prolific than when they were first around in the late 80s. Perhaps naming the closer of the previous album 'Exit the Vaselines' as a tongue-in-cheek play on the title of the greatest hits and live compilation Enter the Vaselines (I'll always prefer The Way of the Vaselines, personally) was actually a subliminal suggestion that a one-off studio album reunion was a better idea than putting out a third LP. M y relationship with The Vaselines began like that of many others—through good ol’ Nirvana. Cobain & Co. introduced me to the Scottish band with their covers on the Incesticide compilation and MTV Unplugged in New dangnesforksacatur.liselzoopimarichasupuncwarenan.infoinfo forward about seven years into , and I purchased the killer Sub Pop compilation, The Way of The Vaselines: A Complete History. The Vaselines - a short-lived, too great to be appreciated in their time, DiY combo centered around the off-kilter chemistry of Eugene Kelly and Frances McKee - personify this. Their songs have eccentric humourous touches (the horn honk in "Molly's Lips," for example), but there's no novelty aspect here. Reply
